What is KICS Family Support Service?

KICS Family Support Service is a Queensland Government funded partnership program between Kummara Association and Infinity Community Solutions to provide a free of charge services for families living in Brisbane South.

KICS Family Support Service can work with any consenting families whose children are living at home, are between the ages 0-18 years (including unborn children) and who find themselves in vulnerable situations, but are not in need of / or at considerable risk of ongoing Departmental intervention.

Families that work with KICS will receive a respectful service tailored around your families’ needs. Every family is unique and raising children can be stressful at times. Our qualified and empathetic staff are non-judgemental and have an understanding of life’s struggles whilst recognising your strengths and abilities.

We will help you make sense of what is going on when you feel overwhelmed and help you address the goals that are important to you.
Families can either self-refer or we can accept referrals from Family and Child Connect (FaCC), intervention services like Intensive Family Support (IFS), hospitals, schools and other government, non-government, universal and specialist services.

There are two ways you can utilise our family support services:

  • In-Home Services
    • We can work with you and your family individually, which means we will visit you in your home or somewhere else comfortable and may help you with budgeting, managing your child’s behaviour or assist you in working together with government agencies and schools. We have in depth knowledge of both community and government services in your area, which we will point out to you if we think they can be of help.
  • Community Programs
    • We offer a variety of community programs to support our families. These programs range from parenting programs, workshops and family fun days.

The KICS Family Support Service is available Monday to Friday between 8.30 am and 5 pm. We are closed on weekends and public holidays. Limited after-hours service on weekdays is available according to your families’ needs.
