KICS Kinship Service

KICS Kinship Service is a Queensland Government funded partnership program between Kummara Limited and Infinity Community Solutions Ltd. to deliver out of home care placement and primary and short break Kinship care for children (0 to 18 years). The service is only able to work with families and Kinship Carers linked to the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs, . Children and young people can be referred to us by the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.

This is a collaborative support service that works with the whole family including the parents and extended family to secure a stable and enduring kinship care placement while it is required.

How we will work with you and your family?

This service is a based-on Family Led Decision principles. We will work to:

  • Provide primary and respite placement assessments and monitoring as well as support and training to carers.
  • Identify and secure appropriate primary and respite kindship placements.
  • Navigate family challenges within the kinship placement program.

The KICS Kinship Service extends to conducting regular home visits, offering after-hours on-call support and providing group and one-on-one training opportunities for kinship carers.

This service is open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and provides flexible support outside of these hours to suit the needs of the family. The service provides on-call services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Statement of Commitment is the first of many online training opportunities for carers and staff alike developed Queensland Foster and Kinship Care (QFKC).  A joint partnership between QFKC, Kummara and Infinity Community Solutions Ltd. this training for Foster and Kinship Carers and support staff is built on legislation and outlines the commitment we all make to children and young people who experience care as well as our rights within the child protection system.
